About the Role

Join a growing legal services team supporting startup clients across a range of industries. You will own a high volume of commercial work, advise clients directly, and help build practical standards and AI-enabled workflows for the team.

What You'll Do

  • Independently negotiate SaaS agreements, MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, vendor contracts, partnership deals, and other commercial agreements.

  • Draft new agreements and templates efficiently across varied contract and business types.

  • Advise founders and in-house teams through Slack and calls, offering practical guidance that helps move deals forward.

  • Turn negotiation positions and review standards into playbooks and AI-supported workflows.

  • Help onboard and support an additional commercial counsel as the team grows.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 3 years of commercial law experience in private practice or hands-on in-house work; candidates with 2 years may be considered with particularly strong law firm training.

  • A JD and active US bar membership in good standing. California admission is strongly preferred; New York admission may also be a fit.

  • Experience independently drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including technology and SaaS contracts.

  • Strong command of market terms involving liability, indemnity, intellectual property, data, and termination, with the judgment to explain tradeoffs clearly.

  • A practical, business-oriented approach to resolving material issues and closing deals, including comfort with timely redlines and collaborative calls.

  • Experience using AI tools in legal practice, or willingness to incorporate them into playbooks and workflows.

  • Recent hands-on individual contributor experience and the ability to work remotely within the United States.
